The AI App Store is Here (or YC wants it here) — Now Let’s Build One for XR

In the past few months, we’ve seen a surge of AI companies venturing into AR/XR, and even Y Combinator has openly backed the idea of an AI-powered App Store. At Omnia, we see this as a major shift that will define how XR content is created, distributed, and experienced.
The Next Evolution: XR Content Distribution
Just as the early internet lacked a structured way to discover information until search engines emerged, XR currently suffers from fragmented content discovery. While AI at the OS level provides a baseline experience, wearing smart glasses that overlay AR interfaces informed by AI agents is the real game-changer. Omnia aims to push this forward by ensuring that a wide variety of spatial content formats can be easily deployed across top-tier XR devices, including Apple Vision Pro, Meta Quest, and Samsung’s upcoming Android XR platform.

Our platform will natively support formats ranging from WebXR to optimized Gaussian splats (.splats), enabling seamless content deployment inside multiple cross-compatible applications. This flexibility ensures that developers and businesses alike can bring spatial experiences to life without device-specific limitations.
Calling on All Current and Future Smart Glasses Manufacturers
Beyond the major players, we also want to extend Omnia’s capabilities to emerging smart glasses manufacturers such as Even Realities and Solos. By integrating Omnia as a pre-installed service, these manufacturers can instantly offer users a rich ecosystem of AR content while tapping into our extensive network of service providers to enhance their hardware’s value proposition.

Spatial Content Made Easy
Building XR applications should be as simple as creating a website. That’s why Omnia is offering a suite of ready-to-use templates, allowing brands and enterprises to quickly launch XR experiences. Whether it’s a spatial browser, an interactive showroom, a virtual try-on tool, or an immersive tutorial, our goal is to lower the barrier to entry for businesses. Just as website builders enabled the proliferation of online businesses, Omnia will streamline XR content creation and deployment.

Introducing the Omnia Spatial Index

One of the biggest challenges in XR is discoverability. When Omnia started, our goal was to make AR experiences more accessible to businesses. Over the past three years, as our technology evolved and AI capabilities matured, we realized that simplifying discovery was just as critical as building the tools themselves.
Much like how search engines revolutionized the internet by making information accessible, Omnia is building the first Spatial Content Index to structure and surface immersive experiences across headsets, smart glasses, and WebXR. This LLM-powered search engine will serve as the universal app store for spatial computing, making it effortless to find and interact with XR content across platforms.
While a fully realized search engine for 3D content doesn’t exist today, that’s precisely what Omnia aims to deliver in the near future. Our vision is to provide smart glasses—and eventually, smart lenses—with a seamless way to browse, search, and experience spatial content like never before.
